I know where I won’t be on November 4. I won’t be in New York City running the marathon.
Three of us applied and three of us were denied.
Kevin – the only smart one in the bunch – had registered for the Marine Corps Marathon as a backup. Keith and I put all of our eggs into the NYC basket. Now we’re left to scan Runners World and other marathon review sites searching for an alternative.
We’re meeting @ the track tonight for our usual Wednesday night speedwork. Our assignment prior to that is to research 4 or 5 potential fall marathons. Here’s the criteria
- in/around New England
- between October 15 and November 15
- a scenic course would be nice.
That’s it – shouldn’t be too tough to find a decent one. We’re definitely open to suggestions.

Interesting that you mention the Cape Cod Marathon. I haven’t mentioned this to Mr. Schachter yet, but I’m leaning towards that one again this year.
There’s this old guy I know – he’s always hurt – he ran Cape Cod in 3:46. I’m thinking there’s no way he should be able to run faster than me.
