I’ve been up since 4:15. I had planned to get up around 5, but my bladder wouldn’t allow that. I fought it for about an hour, before finally saying enough is enough. After an impressively-long trip to the bathroom, I didn’t see much sense in going back to bed for 30 more minutes, so I started my morning @ 4:20 thinking that I’d have a couple lonely hours before the rest of the house woke up.
It turns out I wasn’t alone for long. Apparently, Colin doesn’t care that daylight savings time ended last night. His 2-year-old body was used to waking up @ 6am so this morning he did the natural thing and woke up @ 5am.
Now we’re sitting on the couch together watching Elmo. We’ve checked out today’s weather forecast together. He’s having his chocolate milk and I’m having a cup of coffee. In a few minutes he’ll probably remember that we have a fresh coffee cake sitting on the kitchen counter and will start asking for pieces of that.
Overall, this is the perfect way to start my first marathon morning.
